Intarsia - Recycling Wood Pieces

It's been a while since I posted anything on recycling. Today I'm going to shine the spotlight on some gorgeous art pieces our highschoolers and their teacher Karen Maendel created. Using scrap wood from our carpenter shop they made intarsia wall hangings. Some of these were then given to family members as gifts. The first one hangs in the highschool wing of our school at the moment.

  3. Not that I know of, Shelly. They generally make just one or two pieces per school year and perfer to hang on to them. But there may be other Hutterites out there who may sell some. Perhaps someone will see this comment and let me know. Then I'll pass the info on to you.

  4. Wow, that's talent! I think the Hutterite Children piece is my favorite, too, but the rose is a close second. I wish I knew how to do something like that ~ so neat!

  5. They're beautiful - but I too love the Hutterite Children one best!

What a great thing to teach young people; not only re-use and conservation - but creativity and art skills too. This warms my heart.

So much craftsmanship has been lost to the dictates of penny-chasing capitalism. Quality is worsening everywhere, and most consumers don't care.
