Epiphany - Three Kings Day

O Star of wonder, star of light.
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect Light.

January the 6th is known as Epiphany or Three Kings Day and is observed by the Amish and also the Hutterites that I know of. This year of course it happens to be on a Sunday. Were it any other day, it would still be treated as a Sunday with a morning church service which focuses on the wisemen - Matthew 2: Just like the wisemen following the star, disregarded distance and time to seek Jesus, so should we be led with God's Word as our guiding star, till we've found Jesus. Instead of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, God longs for our heart full of love, devotion and faithfulness.

  1. We have people down here for whom Epiphany is almost as important a celebration as Christmas. I love your last line~

  2. We had to miss church this morning (Sunday) because of sickness (ugh) but I remembered it being the Feast of the Epiphany. We're Catholic and it's one of our holy days as well. It wasn't until I was an adult (actually several months ago) that I even learned that the bible doesn't say anything about there being three wise men, or three kings. Maybe because of the gifts he was given? As you can tell, I didn't spend a lot of time in my youth reading His word.

I saw on Pioneer Woman's website a recipe for Epiphany cake that I thought looked like fun to make, just for a fun dessert for Epiphany but I think with the germs around here we'll save it for maybe next year. Have a wonderful day ~ ♥
