Our Choir Will be Performimg at Winnipeg Christkindlmarkt 2015

Stollen
Every year the German Canadian Congress (MB) Inc. hosts a two-day Christkindlmarkt in Winnipeg. This is a very festive German Christmas tradition. There are tables where people sell a wide variety of things, including homemade crafts, decorations, books and food.

Each time I've taken in this event, I was drawn to the food, especially the German Christmas pastries, like Stollen, (fruit bread) Lebkuchen (gingerbread) and Pfeffernuesse (Spice cookies). A never-fail mouth-
Bienenstich Torte
watering experience. One year a friend introduced me to Bienenstich Torte (Bee Sting Cake). Thank you, Roswitha!! What a delicious treat!! (But which German pastry isn't?) I've been wishing for another taste of this fabulous morsel ever since.

Sorry, got a little side tracked...German pastries does that to me.

The reason for this post was to tell you that our Elm River Community Choir will be singing there this year. Other colony choirs have sung there in the past as well. As part of the festivities various choirs, bands, families...entertain the guests all day long. Our choir will be performing at 12:30 PM on the lower level (It's bigger this year, so they're at a new location which has two levels) of the Holy Cross Hall, 290 Dubuc Street, in St. Boniface. To see who all is part of the entertain this year, click on the Christkindlmarkt link above, then go to the Events Calendar on the left.

This is an event worth taking in! Regrettably though, I won't be able to attend myself this year, because this coincides with a prior commitment. If you're planning on going, think of me when you eat a piece of Bienenstich or Stollen. (: Guten Appetit und Viel Spass!

The market will be open on Saturday, November 28 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and
Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m..
